Meet our team at the BDS 20th biennial conference, 13-15 Sept

Thanks to technological advancement, many new methods and techniques are now available for investigating, designing, constructing and monitoring dams. To showcase the role monitoring takes in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of dam and reservoir management and ensuring the continued safety of these kinds of assets, ITM Monitoring is exhibiting at The British Dam Society’s Biennial Conference in September.

Taking place at Swansea University from Thursday 13th September to Saturday 15th September 2018, the conference will provide delegates with a choice of site visits and technical workshops. The main theme of the conference is Smart Dams and Reservoirs, with the conference covering a range of topics including remote monitoring, changing functions of reservoirs, advanced techniques in geotechnical investigations, emergency preparedness, new solutions and techniques and smart dam construction.

Areas discussed during this workshop will include the opportunities and limitations of remote monitoring for dams and reservoirs; an overview of currently available and emerging technologies; the benefits, challenges and risks associated with the use of remote monitoring; automation of data collection – using Clywedog Dam in Wales as a case in point – and the barriers to the adoption of remote monitoring.

There will also be a trade exhibition in the refreshments area for the duration of the conference, where delegates are invited to come along to speak to the ITM team about their monitoring requirements.

Nick comments: “Over the past 30 years, the team at ITM has built unrivalled expertise in the delivery of a range of monitoring services for dams and reservoirs, so we understand the unique challenges which come with working in this environment. From servicing legacy instrumentation through to installing the latest wireless data acquisition technologies, our team has an in-depth understanding of this specialist sector, and we’re looking forward to sharing this knowledge with delegates at the BDS Conference in September.”
