Welcome to the team, Burt and Kate
New appointments announced at ITM Monitoring
Due to the continued growth of the company, we’re delighted to announce the appointment of Burt Browne as Project Engineer and Kate Emmerson as Business Administrator, further strengthening our service offering to clients.
Burt Browne is a Chartered Civil Engineer with a track record of delivering contracting projects for a variety of large clients, including The Crown Estate, Public Health England, Southern Gas Networks, the University of Oxford, BAM, Mace and DP World, also involving the management of third party stakeholders. He is a graduate member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, and is on the ICE Health & Safety Expert Panel, with experience of works programming and project management as well as experience in the field, installing equipment and engineering systems.
Burt has previously held positions including Health and Safety Consultant, Consultant to The Crown Estate for Minerals and Infrastructure and Site Investigation Contracts Engineer, giving him experience in a wide range of sectors, including highways, tunnelling, deep excavations and rail, which will be of huge benefit in his new role as Projects Engineer at ITM Monitoring.
“In his new role, Burt will be responsible for taking instrumentation and monitoring system designs and concepts and developing them into working campaigns,” comments Dave Jones, Senior Project Manager. “He will produce documentation for works on a variety of third party assets, such as the Docklands Light Railway, London Underground, Network Rail and for main contractors, as well as supporting the onsite teams. Burt is known in the industry as an outstanding responder and pacesetter and this, coupled with his experience in a diverse range of contract types, makes him a fantastic addition to our team.”
Burt adds: “My first qualifications were in Geology, so I’m really looking forward to getting back to my roots and using these skills again. The purpose of monitoring is essentially to isolate, reduce and control risk, so my new role is a great fit with my health and safety experience and a fantastic opportunity for me to use my broad experience of construction design and management, compliance auditing and stakeholder engagement.”
Joining ITM Monitoring as Business Administrator is Kate Emmerson. With a varied professional background in business administration, events management and communications, Kate has also studied with – and instructed the teachings of – one of the world’s leading horse whisperers. Having worked for the company previously, Kate already has an excellent understanding of the business and how it operates, so she is ideally placed to provide general administrative support to the business development, operations and project delivery teams from the get-go.
“I’m really looking forward to a new challenge supporting the fantastic, motivated team at ITM Monitoring,” comments Kate. “I previously worked for the company, before spending time in Colorado studying Parelli Natural Horsemanship. It’s such an exciting time to be re-joining ITM Monitoring, following the acquisition by SOCOTEC, and I’m really looking forward to seeing how the company evolves.”
